1. Sustainability communication

  • The Circle actively participates in industry events to raise awareness about sustainable cargo practices for Swiss WorldCargo’s customers and engage with stakeholders in meaningful dialogue.
  • The team develops informative materials and best practices to guide customers, partners, and employees through Swiss WorldCargo’s sustainability initiatives and the broader environmental impact of air cargo.

2. Fostering SAF adoption

  • The Circle actively engages in driving the adoption of technologies in the aviation sector and is focused on delivering maximum reduction in emissions at source, through the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), innovative new propulsion technologies, and other efficiency improvements.
  • To promote a culture of sustainability, the team plans to develop and offer courses in the future to enlighten stakeholders in the air cargo industry about the importance of technologies for the air cargo sector that aim to maximize the reduction of emissions at source.

3. Product enhancement

  • Enhance the current Green Choice Add-on, which provides customers with various options to reduce the environmental impact of their operations, by offsetting carbon emissions associated with their shipments, contributing to a more sustainable supply chain.
  • Partnering with Climeworks, a leader in carbon removal technology, will further Swiss WorldCargo’s commitment to transparency and offer customers additional options to offset their emissions.

4. Operational improvements

  • The Circle is exploring the use of lightweight containers and packaging materials to reduce fuel consumption and minimize the environmental impact of transportation.
  • The team also assesses the feasibility of replacing traditional packaging options with renewable and recyclable materials.

In addition to the core team, Swiss WorldCargo appointed five sustainability captains to support customers’ interest in sustainability initiatives across various regions. These captains serve as key points of contact for customers worldwide: Sandrine for the Swiss customers, Verena for the Key Account Management, Cruz for the Asia-Pacific region, Joseph for the Americas, and Angelo for customers based in Europe, Middle East, and Africa.
Monthly meetings, as well as continuous training efforts regarding Swiss WorldCargo’s sustainability initiatives and technical developments, will ensure that the captains of the Cargo Sustainability Circle are well-prepared to support sustainability goals, effectively communicate with customers, and guide them in their desire to invest in sustainability.
